Many people think that the best way to fight terrorism and overpopulation is to be more philanthropic and and fight world hunger.

What do you think? Now firsttt... consider this:

Most terrorist are from poor countries. They're angry. They have a right to be angry (not to hurt anyone however). They fight for survival everyday while we complain about our the quality of our hamburgers. They want to be heard, so they make a voilent demonstartion of their feelings. In some cases they're offered money that they can't refuse for their familiy's sake.

As for overpopulation- the poorest countries have the highest populations. Now you may be thinking, "Why would you have all these kids you cannot support financially??" Well, they're not just stupid; they're a few reasons. One main reason is it's important to the parents to have a son and not because they're strictly sexist. Daughters marry therefore joining other families and taking what ever wealth they have with them. They hope for a son that can help take care of them sa they get older. Also, diseases in these countries kill off many children. They more they have the more are likely to survive.

Annnywayyyy.... have at it. Should we feed these counrties or let them fend for themselves?

First of all, terrorism and overpopulation are two totally different things entirely.

I'll start with overpopulation. You can't fight overpopulation by trying to end world hunger. People need food to live. If they don't have it, death inevitably follows. But if they DO have it, people survive. If we ended world hunger (which is highly unlikely) by feeding everyone, the population would continue to grow at an alarmingly rate and the world would be even more overpopulated than it is today. Continuing to starve third world countries is cruel, so it isn't an ethical way to keep the world from overpopulation. We should do what we can to help and feed the hungry, but, also publicize and promote the use of birth control if we're looking for a more humane way to slow population growth.

Terrorism is tricky. I don't believe that we should interrogate and imprison all Arabs in the U.S. or block all immigration into the U.S. from Middle Eastern nations. It wouldn't be right to ruin hundreds of thousands of lives searching in vain for a terrorist that may or may not be in the country. However, if we DO know who the terrorists are, where they're from, and who helped them, I'm all for going out there and kicking some ass. I am a strong believer in the idea that violence is the only thing that can stop violence. It may have worked for Ghandi, MLK Jr. and Mandela, but in the whole scheme of things, the evil in this world will not stop for mere words and peaceful negotiation. The only way to keep another 9/11 from happening is to make sure that we are prepared and let potential terrorists know that we will not go quietly and we will not be bullied into submission. Sometimes you just have to fight fire with fire.
