Hm... girls also have a strong grouping / rallying tendency ... maybe her friends are just rallying around her in the post - relationship period.

I admit there have been occasions where I've been mean to one of my girlfriends' exes after the relationship had ended. I think it was just a way [ a pretty crappy one, looking back on it ] to show loyalty to my friends.
