Absolutely, it's common. It just mean's that your relationship isnt the way that your other one's were. Or you want to be single but dont want to loose that person as your great friend. But don't go hitting on other people without letting your bf/gf know. That's not fair to them. They deserve to know. So if your not feeling the relationship..just end it. And good luck to you.
