okay well im not sure if this goes here or not, if it isnt im sorry. well this is my last year in high school ); even though people are so thrilled about it, im not as much as they are. I actually like it in high school, and gees now its BOOM college. which really scares the hell out of me like literally, if someone starts talking about..i try to change the subject. I'm just really confused on what i actually want to do, as in career wise..everyone around picked teacher, doctor, nurse, blah blah!! And i seriously dont want to be a lawyer or doctor sort of thing. I know my major is going to be English b/c its at least one of the things im actually good at (despite what you guys are reading now.) But other than that, I HAVE NO IDEA!!! I dont want to be a writer/author, but i want to be magazine editor. But i doubt that's going to be a sure job opening out there yaknow? I love to write about anyuthing, my friends tell me that i am a good writer but i dont want to be just a writer but a magazine editor. but i love messing around photoshop and designing things on it. But i'm not PRO at it, I just know the basics to know what the hell I'm doing. I need help, on actually what kind of career i should be aiming for than just dream job of being a magazine editor...i want to combine both my love for writing&desiginig <the look, style of magazines or anything associated with both included* Do you guys have any ideas? I'm sorry, I'm just seriously frustrated wacko.gif

Hey, you sound a lot like me! I'm trying to decide what I want to do also except that I have a LOT of different interests and I'm not sure what direction to go in. Two of my major interests are magazine journalism and emergency medicine. My suggestion to you would be to apply to liberal arts colleges (schools that offer a wide varity of courses and majors) instead of a technical school. In a lot of colleges, you don't have to declare your major right away and if you decide to switch majors, it usually isn't that painstackingly hard to do (although it's not recommended). The first year or so in college you will be taking the mandatory courses that all students going to that university will need to graduate so you can get the feel for things and see how you like things. One thing that seems to be discouraging you from pursuing your idea of getting into magazine is that there might not be a job opening. One thing that I have to say is that this is something to consider, however, if it is a dream and goal of yours to write for a living in an atmosphere that you love and enjoy, you shouldn't have a problem working hard to get there. Wouldn't you rather end up in a fantastic job that you love after working hard to get there than being stuck in a job that you hate for the rest of your life because you didn't take the chance when you had it? I hope I was of some help to you. If you want to talk more, you can PM me. _smile.gif
