friends, trying to fit in with a group Options

Alright, here's the deal.

There's a nice-sized group of people that hang out together, and I've been trying to fit in with that group. I'm pretty acquainted with most of them, and I get along with them rather well. They seem to like me, yet ever time someone holds a party I'm not invited.

I've been trying to fit in with this group ever since last year, because the old group I used to hang out with has pretty much broken apart. (I still talk with most of them, though, but it's not the same as it used to be.) However, one guy we all used to hate is suddenly accepted and invited to parties! But me, who has been trying much longer and knows most of them better than he ever did, is not.

Sometimes I wonder if they truly like me. Sometimes I wonder if they're all putting on a kind mask when they talk to me, and in truth they dislike me. Sometimes I get that vibe. I've lightly brought up the subject to a couple of people, but I always get response like, "Yeah..." and stuff like that. So I don't know.

I'm holding a party for most of this group next month, hopefully to strengthen some friendships. But I just don't know what the deal is, because if they really don't like me then I have very few friends.

Any thoughts on this?

I'll tell you why the other kid you all used to hate got 'accepted'. Its because he wasn't part of some group, and could be close with everyone at once. Also, karma-wise, you followed the trend and hated some kid, now its your turn to not be invited to anything and whatnot.

I still have never heard about someone who wants to be a follower in a group.

im with you ariel, why would you wanna try to fit in with some random group?
dont you know it makes you come off as some nerd with no friends trying to follow people you think is cool? i remember when with my particular "group" of friends, one time this one kid just randomly started trying to hang out with us, and we were like, what the hell lol but we would still be nice to him and not completely ignore him. and he probably thought he "knew us so well" haha. sounds like a familiar situation with you. not to be mean.
