Actually, for me, it depends soully on the anime. Sometimes it's better with subtitles like.. umm.. the Yu Yu Hakusho MOVIE, where they don't use the original voice casting and sometimes it's better in english(dubbed) because the voices fit and the anime isn't completely ruined. ~Shrugs.~ Just depends sometimes on the anime.
And as for squashie's comment.. no, it doesn't totally ruin the anime. Sometimes, yes, I will agree on sometimes, but no, not all the time. If you think so on that then you need to watch more anime, my friend. It gives those who aren't quick enough to read subtitles the chance to know what's going on and hear it as well, so they don't have to sit and pause, read the subtitles and the play again. So it helps people like that. |

It gives those who aren't quick enough to read subtitles the chance to know what's going on and hear it as well, so they don't have to sit and pause, read the subtitles and the play again. So it helps people like that. I agree. When I first started watching anime I liked the dubs better, because it's easier for me to listen to english. But after awhile you get used to hearing the Japanese. It's a completely different language with different nuances. It depends on how carefully the dubs were done. And the same goes for subbing. If you DL an anime with shitty subbing where the sentences make almost no sense because the grammar is so bad, it's just as bad as watching dubbing where the voices are all wrong. Like...The Cst Returns, I think they did fabulously with the dubbing on that one. And it doesn't matter a whole lot if you read the subtitles or watch it dubbed, because they subbed it with the same script they used when they dubbed it. Watching it in Japanese is also good because you can audibly learn the language. I've picked up a few phrases and words here and there. I like to turn some on for my daughter and just let her watch the Japanese. She doesn't care one way or the other. Point being: does it matter, as long as you love anime. There will always be the two ways of doing things. Who cares? Concentrate more on spreading the anime love!! lol |
