I don't know if this exactly fits in with "debate", but I imagine there will be some debate on the issue; at any rate, the only other acceptable place to post it would be in The Lounge, and it will just get a lot of uninformed responses there (or will be outright ignored).
Anyway, as I'm sure anyone who's been watching the news knows, Tom DeLay was indicted on campaign financing charges yesterday, resulting in his temporarily stepping down from his post as House Majority Leader. I'm interested in hearing some informed opinions on this important issue. |

edit:
Apparently, his role in Texans for a Republican Majority has gotten him in trouble. I don't know the whole situation, but it has something to do with borrowing money from some company and using it. ![]() However, the Republicans claim that Ronnie Earle, the Texas attorney general, has made unsubstaintiated claims and that the indictment is a political ploy. I, personally, believe that he should never have been elected in the first place for multiple reasons. I live in the area which he represents, (the 22nd Congressional District) and I feel he's done very little for us, except use his power for unethical and unfair purposes.
