Lindsay Lohan and the Simpson sisters, fighting! =o Options

With all the horrible things going on in the world -- war, poverty, another season of "According to Jim" -- it's almost a comfort to hear about a good old-fashioned celebrity feud. And like many a star-studded showdown, this one centers on Lindsay Lohan.

The New York tabloids report the twiggy teen queen, Lindsay Lohan, who once battled Hilary Duff over Aaron Carter (we're sure it seems like a bad dream to them, too), launched a salvo against Jessica and Ashlee Simpson Saturday night by banning them from her soiree at the Standard Hotel in L.A. following the MTV Movie Awards.

The reason? The New York Post claims Linds, 18, still holds a grudge against Ashlee, 20, for supposedly "stealing" her former flame, Wilmer Valderrama (yes, almost-grown women are allegedly fighting over Fez).

While the "That '70s Show" second banana and the "La La" warbler have repeatedly insisted they're just friends, People mag reports they were seen locking lips May 30 at an L.A. hotspot.

According to the paper, "a catfight" nearly broke out when the Simpson sisters turned up at the Standard for the bash.

"Jessica and Ashlee pulled up, and as hotel employees were clearing a table for them at Lindsay's party, Lindsay supposedly found out and said, 'No way -- they are not coming to my party,'" a snitch tattles to the Post. "And the guy at the door told the Simpsons that [Lohan] said to go away."

An insider tells a similar tale to the New York Daily News, adding, "All of the staff was told not to let them in. Basically high school drama. Jessica tried to act like it wasn't a big deal, and left, but you could tell she was crushed."

And apparently more than a little ticked.

The rebuffed siblings decided to head over to Jimmy Fallon's shindig at the Argyle Hotel, where the Post says sweet Mrs. Lachey was overheard fuming, "That [bleep]. If she comes here, I will kick her ass!"

When Lohan turned up an hour later, Jess purportedly "went ballistic," a spy tells the Post. "She was screaming how she was going to kick her butt, and had to be separated from Lindsay. Ashlee wasn't so upset, but Jessica was furious because she says she is a star and should be let in everywhere."

The "Mean Girls" starlet's rep was quick to do damage control, explaining to the Daily News that Jessica and Ashlee's exile was simply a "misunderstanding at the door" and positing to the Post "maybe their names got misplaced on the list." (We would have gone with the more believable "hunger-induced crankiness," but whatever ...)

The Post reports the girls later kissed and made up (Lohan told them "it was a mistake"), but a mole insists to the News, "Lindsay did not want them in there."

Jessica, for her part, is pooh-poohing the feud talk, telling People, "I guess people got tired of making up stories about me and Nick and decided to create some other kind of drama."

this is just gossip made by jessica and ashlee simpson's father. joe simpson is the one who calls tabloids and talks sh*t just to get his daughters' names in the papers/magazines. i read that and it made me laugh because it's so pathetic.
