Instrumental Setup, that's right ^^ Options

Alright. I don't know if this is in the right place but if it isn't.. sorry just move it -_-.

So I've seen that CB has many musicians that play all sorts of instruments. So I was curious about the setup of your instrument - such as the brand stuff like that.

So I'll start.

My Alto Sax

Yep, but only for fun; my actual role in band was oboe (or drums in marching band).

I really like the clarinet, though, I wished I had played that instead.

Ah, I see. It's interesting that you'd rather play clarinet, because ereryone I know who plays clarinet doesn't like it much, except those who don't play it as their main instrument.

^x6 Yeah, tweaak I know. I don't even play my piccolo much, it hurts my ears. Everyone had to wear earplugs during symphony practice because the piccolo parts had to play these really high parts.

^ Eveyrone has their own preference. I think Yamahas are the best, and I was going to get one, but my teacher recommended a Sankyo for me at the end.

They get ear plugs in sectionals, but the rest of us just have to deal. Same with the drumline. The piccolos are a really devoted section, and always wind up tuning and warming up and generally practicing the most, and typically in the worst places. The drums I can just walk away from, but those damn piccs carry

i played bassoon. yea... double reeds aren't that easy to play. ehh.

They're difficult, but worth it... The bassoon and oboe are dandy instruments.

^yes, but they're horrifying when tuning. Last year one of of our judges tapes, they went from talking about something to saying "wow that's a lot of piccolos! you're brave!" We had about 14 in a band of 140 (last year). He mentioned our large amount of piccs 3 more times.

Mm, I wish clarinets were allowed in the jazz band...not that I'd make it anyway, but it was traditionally a jazz instrument so it should be reguarded as such more often

Usually it's altosax,tenor sax, bari sax, trombone, trumpet, guitar, bass, piano.

Wow, really? Most jazz bands I have seen include clarinets--it was a fairly common jazz instrument.

Yeah, it's the same around here. And and..I thought flutes were pretty common in jazz band, as well.
