Here's my little story...
It was the first day of school and we were able to sit anywhere we wanted in Math class. I didn't know anyone so I just sat in a random table full of other girls - with just another person I knew. I ended up sitting with this other girl who I automatically hated... and through out the year, we had to sit elsewhere but ... I realized that the girl I hated I really liked... and it took me all year to realize that she wasn't so bad afterall. I kind of lost my chance, I guess... So this year, I ended up in none of her classes yet I have oppurtunities to see her. I never actually have introduced myself.. and I don't really think I should since we knew each other from last year. And... well, I'm kind of shy. And here's the thing.. all my friends are friends with her but I don't see why we're not friends and I find that quite surprising... I'm too shy to go up to her and talk to her.. and I told myself that I'd want to be friends with her and my goal would be by December. But so far, no such luck.... Is there any other way? |

Any other way to become friends with her without talking to her? Not really. It takes some social contact to become friends with a person.
If you feel strongly about it, get over your shyness and try to strike up a conversation; however, the fact that you are uncomfortable might just need you don't have much to say to her, which means that you might not be friends with her even if you try. I generally subscribe to the view that, with a little effort, people naturally become friends if being friends would actually work out. |
