i really do. i cant f**king do anything. im constantly being told to log onto the admin account to install anything, and then i do, yet it still wont work half the time. i could not for the life of me get limewire to work. it was fully installed, but thanks to the 50million virus scans and the like, i couldnt connect to it, even once i did say to allow it. and although the sims 2 will work on the admin account, i cant use it on mine. i cant use aim express anymore because of my millions of popup blockers, but it wont let me download it either.
im extremely annoyed right now, so im not entirely sure what my point is; rather this was meant to ask for help or just to rant. oh well, reply as you see fit. if it gathers spam or just genreally dies, ill close it, i suppose |

Here's one thing I hate about Windows XP: that stupid "You have X unread mail messages" note that appears on the Welcome screen when you lock your console. It's nice when it works--but that's the thing, it hardly ever works. It keeps telling me I have two unread mail messages, and I don't. How hard is it to write a feature into an operating system that checks for the number of unread mail messages and displays it on the screen? Not very damn hard. Here's what you do: you write a function to get the number of unread mail messages, and then you display them on the screen; then you write a nice API so developers can tap into that functionality with their software. It's not too damn hard to get it right! But of course, Microsoft can't even do that properly. It astounds me that this bug--which is so common that TweakXP.exe even has "Fix unread mail count" as an option--is still present in Windows XP SP 2. That's right, after two service packs, the "feature" is still broken. For those of you who don't know, Service Pack 2 means, in layman's terms, "the second big f**king update to Windows that is supposed to have fixed most of the bugs present in the release version". But no, after two SP's, this stupid function--which I didn't even turn on, nor can find a simple place in my user options to turn off--still does not work. Gah.
