well, as julia stated, tommorow is september 11th. so my question is, what was your 9/11 memory? by this, i mean, where were you when you found out? what else happened that day? here's mine:
i was in 4th grade. it was first period or something like that. they were starting to say the morning announcements, and then our principal was like "the twin towers have been knocked down". something along those lines. the whole day i was really confuzed, because i had no clue what the twin towers were. in social studies, my teacher turned on the tv and we just watched the news, the whole period. i remember a few kids at school crying that day too >.>. when i got home that day, i turned on the tv, and every single news channel had the story on it. me and my dad talked about it for awhile, and he explained what the twin towers were and such. er- yeah. that was my 9/11. what was yours? |

I remember I was in 7th grade. It was a beautiful day in central New Jersey... Sunny, warm, just gorgeous. I was gazing out the window in Geography class about the time the WTC's would have fallen.
But I didn't know that yet. At lunch, there were rumors that the Twin Towers had collapsed or they had been attacked. Skeptical of our 12 year old companions, my friends and I denied the event. In 8th period Communication Arts, my teacher told us she heard on the radio during her lunch break that the Twin Towers had collapsed some time that morning. We were all shocked. Maybe it was true. Not even five minutes after my teacher had told us what she had heard, the principal came on the loud speaker, asking if anyone had parents working in NYC and, if so, they must report to the main office immediately. So it had happened. I left school early that day because I was having my pendulum (a stupid dental appliance to push my molars back) inserted. At the orthodontist's office, a TV had been brought in and everyone was listening (while either being worked on or working on someone) to newcasters detailing the day's events. It was so unbelieveable. My mouth hurt when I came home on 9/11, but, when I turned on the news, I felt no pain. 3,000 people, MY people, had died. There was a possible terrorist attack on MY country. Why should I feel any pain when so many other people were dying. 16 people from my town died, many were fathers of young children and pregnant wives. 36 children in my town were affected. 9/11 has inspired me to become a stronger person. It has inspired me to love my country with every part of my being. If has inspired me to become a better American. Even now, when I plane passes overhead at night, I worry something like 9/11 will happen again. Then I pray for the souls that had died in vain, for the children without parents, and for the country as a whole to be stronger than it ever could be. Rin-chan ps- Part of me is still in shock that it actually happened. I have stood in the hole left behind by the WTC's, but I cannot understand how so many people had died in the spot I was standing in. |
