I think it's still possible to get into decent schools even if you are not loaded up on amazingly hard classes. Students from my school go to places like MIT, William & Mary, Penn State, Notre Dame, UVA, Cornell, MICA, and other such schools on a pretty regular basis. Classes matter, and grades matter, but so do a lot of other things, such as extracurricular activities, hobbies, interests, admissions essays, and the like. Colleges today are really looking for well-rounded individuals that will be involved in a lot of extracurricular activities on campus.
Besides, it's always beneficial to relax and keep your number of worries and concerns to a minimum. Of course, one good thing about a difficult course load is that it will help you develop a strong work ethic, which is of great importance in college (and something on which I personally could work harder). |
