Claudel, I think you've spent too much time watching TV or movies.
An IP address is nothing. I can get the IP address of the createblog.com server right now. I just did, in fact. It took me about a minute. I also got the contact information for the company or persons that run the server. An IP address is not an automatic entry into a computer. A computer needs to have a vulnerability. I'm sure a webserver such as the one that hosts createblog.com is relatively secure. Maybe not perfect, but it's high-profile enough that it has come under attack before. Even if it was attacked, the company or persons who run the server would most likely have backups. Most companies/persons do. There's a fair chance they're even kept off-site, but if not, I'm sure a person with a site as big as createblog will have taken steps to keep the data relatively secure in the event of a catastrophe. Anytime you do anything on the Internet, your IP is logged. The createblog.com has logged your webserver. The mods can view your IP. Nearly every site you go to logs your IP address. It's not a big deal if someone gets it, because the chances of anything happening are slim. Aside from the technical issues listed above, the article was also written in jest, and need not be taken so seriously. |
