I FINALLY finished my first person vexel. I did that shoe, but, eh, figured i'll try to do a person.
I think it looks alright. The picture had like no nose to it, so, that's why it may look a tad bitty bit weird. It's Reese Witherspoon. Anyways: THUMBEEDDDD! Original: ![]() Mine: ![]() Blah, you know the drill. Critique, discuss, disgust..yeah.. |

There aren't enough shades. Actually...you can have that many layers if you use the right amount of contrast. Right now it looks really flat. Let me explain...
If you're planning to use a few shades (maybe 3 or 4), then use more contrast between the layers. It's more realistic that way. If you're planning to do a whole bunch of shades (8-10, maybe) then use less contrast, or else, on the last layer she's gonna be black. Does that make sense? It probably doesn't make sense. But my point is, if you do a small amount of contrast on a vector with few layers, then it's going to look very flat and 2D. What level are you posterizing at? If you make it around 8-10ish, you're going to have more shades. A picture that has no shades is impossible; every person has shading. If you create more layers, it'll be more real. Just wanted to give you a useful tip, though, good job on the general shapes and shades. =] Great for a first. |
