Do you want to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina, but are financially unable to? You can still help. The Oxygen Network has started a campaign called 'Oh! Speak Up!: The Youngest Victims of Hurricane Katrina'.

The campaign is helping children who were patients of the New Orleans Children's Hospital who were moved to the Texas Children's Hospital in Houston. Oxygen has stated that for every person the signs up for the campaign, they will donate $1 to help the kids.

All you have to do is enter your name, age, zip code, and email address. Nothing else is required and you won't get tons of spam email.

It's a great cause and you'd be donating $1 to the campaign at no cost to yourself. I've already signed up, along with 12,685 other people.

Think about it: if one million people sign up, that's one million dollars to help these children. If you'd like to help, go here, to the campaign's registration page, take 2 minutes to fill out the information, and pass the link you receive on to other people.

Email it, post it in your own journal, do whatever. Let me know if you sign up, I'm interested to see who all helps out! :)

(I found this in my friend's livejournal, thanks divine_dreams)

wow, why are you upset (at least that's what it comes off as)? i was pointing something out. this is not a time for your "stop bitching and donate your money if you don't want to sign up." i'm sorry if i made it seem that i wanted people to stop signing up. (okay my "some of these efforts were fruitless" statement was a bit harsh.) i just wanted people to be aware of the fine print.

by the way i did sign up, spread it on myspace, and apologized if i was "ruining" it for some people. and i did say in my own words that the thought did count.

although i can't say anything about the site reconsidering their fine print because that is possible.

edit: i guess what i've been trying to say is that people should contribute in other ways as well.
