To an extent I use the best friend's rule, if they were together for a REALLY long time (6 months+) and broke up badly then No. Because for me that is not right, especially if you were there for your friend through the whole break up and supporting them and all. Now if they were together a really long time, but broke up over mutual reasons and their are still good friends and don't care about dating each others friends, then its okay.
Basically I did the same thing once, my use to be friend was dating this guy off and on. She pretty much cheated on him, and was very abusive to him, part the reason why we aren't friends anymore, and so he ended their relationship. Now I had known him before she did, and infact me and him had been friends for a REALLY long time. About 3-4 months after they broke up, and we stopped being friends, he asked me out. Well of course when she found out, she went nuts. She tried telling her mother that supposedly they were going out and I had broke them up so that I could go out with him. And she spreaded a ton of rumors of how I had backstabbed her and done all these horrible things. It was a bad beginning for our relationship together, because between the both of us constantly trying to tackle all these rumors and with her still calling and harassing us both, it was rough. At one point her own mother cussed me out calling me all sorts of names and saying how I was a horrible friend. In the end, me and the boy lasted about 4 months together before we realized that we were more like friends than like g/f and g/f. Basically what I'm trying to say is that be careful before you get into any relationship that has an iffy past. Especially if the friend is still wanting to get back with their ex. It can cause a lot of issues and hurt feelings. In the end its really all up to you and what you feel for the person, and if they feel the same way. Man I feel like some sort of love doctor hah. |
