Basicly, what i want to get across with this is the issue of people not realizing the concerns of their friends on these matters. i feel it is important that people realize that when you do things to hurt yourself, and you think it's no big deal that your friends don't want you to do these things for reasons like: It's my body, it doesn't effect you, i enjoy it. they must also realize that when a friend really cares about you, those actions can hurt them very deeply. When someone ignores your concerns you feel unnimportant.
I think it should be enough that your friends are worried about you. That in itself should at least make you consider maybe stopping, or at least cutting down on the activities that you don't need to be doing. Substances setract from quality time you spend with your friends. If you are self medicating with substances, you are forgetting what friends are for, or maybe you don't know what real friends are. Respecting a friend's concerns can be very important in a healthy friendship. This, of course, applies to things other than substances. it carries over to actions that may be harmful to you that could worry your friends. You need to consider these things when you are doing them. It has a lot to do with priority i supose. It also gets really anoying when all someone wants to do for fun is drink, smoke, or pop pills. It doesn't say much for the person other than maybe they refuse to think of anything entertaining to do, or maybe they are unninteresting. It's more important to find people you really connect with than to get trashed with aquaintances... A sense of accomplishment is nice too. |

I agree for the most part...
but when people are high and junk, it's hard for them to realize that kind of stuff... |
