To arms in hearts held away.
trust that the diamonds are safe
from this place and it's people
so greedy yet regal with taste
finally floating down stream
reinforcements are needed it seems.
in the face of my enemies
spitting out requests of death
and disembowlment
I won a battle of words
as one of our own arrows
took me to my maker
sooner than I expected
who betrayed the princess of drums?
till time lay down to bow to my father
his foot steps quiet yet cracking the earth in their wake
held me in his hands and set me back down
as if a witness of my passing from above was not (enough)
a wind of his breath woke me from my dream of life
and saw the towers of ivory, of costing peace
a strange creature sat on my chest and pressed it's foot to my head
and was again asleep in our longhouse
with our people and the arrow gone
a hole in my heart still healing
but scarred not the same, not untouched
I felt great pain, the numbest throbbing is still with (me)
but more than water loves it's own
(I) want to go back to that place
for now revenge will be my mission
this I have told you Motsumat.

Thanks James! :D That really means a lot to me. It doesn't matter to me though if I am appreciated, only that my work is. Even then, it is only with passion about few special pieces when you can't fight the "i love you, i hate you" temptations to angstify your work. I really apreciate what you do with your writing.

Some things I have to say about this piece:

The original piece about the princess of drums was a song, complete in difference to the words written here now, it was indeed written about a warrior maiden, but it was about her journey of revenge and the people she gathered for her armies along the way. I've set the song apart from this piece, because I do not intend this piece for music. It is meant to be read aloud, but not as musical. In the words of Frank Herbert, "The saga of" Drumelia "is far from over." There will be additional pieces to further the tail of Drumelia, Princess of Drums and the war she wages. I hope you will read them in the future. I am greatly compelled to write her story.
