if people are expected to follow it, then post it.

like, don't post a picture at the end of every post because it eats up bandwith.

I can't help but notice those are two things you have been guilty of doing as of late.

Let me take a guess at a sequence of events: you did something that most sensible people would know others would find annoying (in fact, I hazard to guess you did it because you knew other people would find it annoying). A moderator or admin told you to stop because it was against the rules. You then disagreed, citing that nowhere are such rules posted, and argued that you should be allowed to continue with said behavior because it is not "against the rules."

Let's be honest: in life, there are some things the average, sensible person knows should not be done. I hope the webboard here is not coming to a point where we must compile a list of every possible annoying or inappropriate thing a member does or could do, simply so a mod can link to a list and say "That's against the rules." The average age of the users here are in the 12-18 range, I believe; that is a point where a sensible person should be able to know what is and is not appropriate, or at least can accept it when a mod says "That's against policy" without insisting on a written list of rules.

Basically, it's a matter of being mature, and not being whiny when someone points out inappropriate behavior. Now, many so-called "intelligent" people like to try to "beat the system" by doing things not specifically prohibited, but there's a point where that becomes immature and not an appropriate way to act in public. There's also a point where that becomes not intelligent or "thinking outside the box"; it just becomes annoying and whiny.

Certainly there are some rules that need clarified, such as rules prohibiting support of piracy, rules about the content of posts that might be ambiguous, and so forth. But I don't think we need rules such as "Don't post a big picture manually at the bottom of every post in order to circumvent the signature rule" or "Don't post annoying information on a feature you don't like at the bottom of every post."

Let's be honest for a minute: if people don't like the new "Big Brother" feature, there is a thread they can vote/discuss the topic in. It does not need to be linked to in every post, especially ones that have no discussion relating to that feature. If people are that concerned about it, the thread is simple to find.

But of course, I don't think you seriously mean for rules such as this to be posted; this thread is yet another sarcastic attempt at getting attention. Sarcasm certainly has its place (I am guilting of employing it myself), but there is a time and a place for sarcasm, and when used wantonly, it belies the intelligence of the poster.
