A few of our members have expressed interest in this feature (view here) so as of today, it's been added in. However, some of our members have also expressed their discontentment with this new feature saying that it's a bit "stalkerish".
If you still don't know what I'm talking about, scroll down to the bottom of topic and forum pages and notice that now it tells you which members are viewing that page. So it's up to you guys. Keep or remove? |

QUOTE(S dot MARTYR @ Aug 2 2005, 12:00 AM) i'm not big brother, fool. anyways; the reason i'm against this feature is it's rather pointless. all it promotes is too things: 1. so people can see who visits their topic and cry about who doesn't comment. 2. so people can see that no one else reading the same topic as them and cry about it. 3. it lets you see who's in a topic so that you can hold an off topic conversation in them. 2+2=5 i love big brother |

Have any of these things actually happened yet? I don't think so--certainly not on a large scale. The function is nice to see who is viewing a topic and who might be replying in one--it can be useful in some topics where there is fast-paced discussion on an issue. I don't think there are people going around crying about who doesn't comment, or that no one is reading the topic. I honestly don't think anyone really examines the users that closely in a topic; if they need to know for some reason who is viewing/replying in a topic, they can, but otherwise, I don't think there are users going around stalking people, or sitting at their computer hitting "Refresh" so they can see who is looking at their topic. |

If it's just a regular thread- you just post. you don't direct your post at someone in particular based on whether they're reading the thread or not. there are probably some users right now, sitting at thier computer looking at a topic they created and refreshing the page to see who's reading it. and i prefer not to use invisible because if someone wants to see if i'm on to PM me, i want them to be able to. i just don't want a useless function that doesn't have any purpose but to let people cry about how little people are reading thier topic. 2+2=5 i love big brother |
