Ok, so I'm trying to wrap my brain around how to make my page layout get to the place that I want it and I noticed a couple of things. First, this site provides layouts that don't use the xanga skin editor. Second, I hardly see any skins that do use the skin editor (even on the xanga site).
So my question is, why? At first glance it appears that the skin editor would be the way to go, since you can actually move the modules around instead of having to create custom modules to mimick the normal ones. That would have the bonus of not having to manually type in stuff like subscriptions, etc. into custom modules. Do people prefer to NOT use the skin editor mainly because it requires the user to have a premium account? If so, I can understand that. I just want to know whether there are any other reasons, because I'm about to try and learn how to use the skin editor unless there's a valid reason why not too. EDIT: here's the link to the xanga skin editor, if anyone doesn't know what I'm talking about: http://www.xanga.com/CLAF/skin.asp |

Cool, that makes sense. I was worried that there might be some more sinister reason behind it all.
I like the skins found at CB. Im using one in fact. The only problem is that I'm having a terrible time trying to figure out how to modify the one i'm using to fit my needs. I just can't figure out the codes involved. When I looked at the skinning tutorial at the xanga site, it looked to be a bit more user friendly. Thanks for the quick reply. ![]() |
