I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. Intel might have more market share, but an Opteron-based server is more powerful than a Xeon-based server (especially when running Linux). This article sums up that sentiment nicely: "It's really hard not to be charmed by AMD, especially when you see the performance of a decked out Opteron-based server compared to anything else on the market, including an XServe" [1].

Well I found 581,000 hosts that offer Dedicated Xeon hosting, and only 215,000. This supports my post.

Most Xeon servers are less than a Opteron server anyway. $249(Dual Processor) a month HP Proliant Xeon Server, and $289(Dual) a month for a HP Proliant Single or Dual Opteron. Info from Voxrox.
