Alright, here's some info:

roy moore starteed a controversy by putting a 6 ton monument to the ten commandments (of the ten commandments, whatever) on the front doorstep of the alabama supreme court building when he was chief justice.

he was ordered to removed the monument by a federal judge.
roy moore ignored the order, costing alabama a 500,000 dollar fine each day it was still there.

he appealed to the supreme court, which told him to remove it. he again ignored the order, continuting to cost alabama taxpayers 500,000 dollars a day.

finnally, he was removed from office and all 9 of his fellow justices removed the monument.

now:

there is a petition to get roy moore appointed as sandra day o conner's replacement. to the court he "so valiently defied" when he refused to remove his monument.

Also, he appears to plan to run for alabama governor in 2006, wheni'll be 5 months too young to vote against him GAH.

so:

should roy moore be barred from holding any political postition ever in his life again?

and about the line between church and state: the state should not regulate a church (unless it's breaking the law) and the church should not regulate the state (not through the institute of the church nor through it's members)
