Ooooh, a sexual health topic.
I'm hoping all of you are familiar with contraception and birth control and the importance of using protection when engaging in sexual activity. Methods include abstinence, the use of condoms, diaphragm, spermicide, birth control pills, patch, depo provera shot, withdrawal AKA the pull-out method (which is not very effective and I highly advice against) IUD, the morning after pill (which should not be used as a primary form of birth control but only for emergency purposes) etc. All methods are used to prevent unwanted pregnancy but only the condom or abstinence can prevent the transmittal of STDs. Anyway, which is your primary method of contraception and birth control? Do you have anything to share about your experience with your chosen method? The reason I ask is because I am looking to get on either the pill, the patch or the shot but I'm concerned about the side effects, inconveniences, and cost. Oh, and my chosen method of protection is using condoms and occasionally VCF (Vaginal Contraceptive Film). I'm sure you guys are already familiar with how condoms work. As for VCF, my experience with it has been somewhat frustrating and frightening. I've had difficulty putting it in correctly and I fear that it may not be protecting well. |

I use the depo provera shot. It works pretty well, and the only side effect I have experienced is a bit of lightheadedness (is that a word?) right after the shot. Otherwise it's perfectly fine.
The EC pill. Oh god I had an interesting experience with that. It's not technically abortion because the main goal of the pill is to flush everything out before the egg can implant itselft. it made me sick for a little over a week. I couldn't get out of bed and i lost about 15 pounds and a lot of hair. I do not reccomend it to anyone unless it is an extreme emergency. And the EC pill is only effective up to 72 hours after sex. |

Would that contraceptive be the pill more commonly known as "the morning after" pill? ![]() |
