I don't know where this goes, but here goes anyway...
I'm 16 and I've been wearing glasses for a long time and I am really starting to hate them. I was thinking about getting contacts and I have my whole debate ready with my parents and my mom was like...ehh whatever your dad says but he was just...NO. That's it...his reason is that "I don't trust any technology that is at least 20 years old" and it is really stupid. My brother who is 23 has had contacts as soon as he turned 18 because he had the same problem but is there any way I can get them without my parents permission? There is no way that my mom would let me without my dad's permission, and he is really stubborn and I have tried asking him over and over again. I would pay for it myself, but the thing is I need my parents which cause the whole problem. If you are going to just tell me to wait...I really don't want to but if I have no choice I guess I'll have too. |

I heard it makes your eyes worse faster then glasses though...that worries me alot

There are actually gas permeable contact lenses (in other words, hard contacts) that are corrective and lower your prescription by reducing the curviture of your eyes. However, gas permeable lenses are more of a hassle than soft lenses, and they also cost more.Anyway, contacts do not, in any way, worsen your vision any faster than glasses do, at least to my knowledge. And as for your situation, I'm not sure if you need parental consent to get contacts.  Your best bet would be to talk to your optometrist.
