WOW.
only an hour or so of the 8 hour broadcast of the live 8 concerts all over the world have been shown here and it's already been absolutely amazing. richard ashcroft and coldplay playing bittersweet symphony!?! AHH that was so freaking awesome. it's a great cause. i already have the banner for makepovertyhistory.com which is tied in with the live 8 cause, and my mom said i can order a bracelet for it. if you don't know why the live 8 concerts are going on, it's to ensure that the leaders of the better-off countries who in a few days are going to discuss how much money will be given to the cause will make their money count and give as much as they can to help. some acts that are involved are: coldplay paul mccartney u2 the who pink floyd kanye west destiny's child alicia keys mariah carey audioslave jay-z the killers dave matthews band good charlotte justin timberlake madonna motely crue rob thomas lauryn hill sarah mclachlan kaiser chiefs and many many more. there are 9 stages throughout the world in america, the UK, canda, japan, south africa, france, germany, italy, and russia. discuss! |

^Unless there is something I'm missing here, signing something doesn't feed the starving people...
I mean, they said that there was like 600,000 people in Philadelphia, if they charged people just like $1 to get in, that's $600,000 right there. |

QUOTE(PiGo @ Jul 2 2005, 9:48 PM) ^Unless there is something I'm missing here, signing something doesn't feed the starving people... I mean, they said that there was like 600,000 people in Philadelphia, if they charged people just like $1 to get in, that's $600,000 right there. That's the difference between Live Aid and Live 8. Live Aid, the concert 20 years ago, was to raise money. Though money is well and good, it gives the appearance as if the problem has been solved. Money doesn't mean spit if people don't understand that there's a massive problem still out there. Live 8 wasn't a fundraiser, it was for awareness, as others above me have pointed out. Also, like others said, if enough people make their voices heard, then something will have to be done. It'd be irresponsible and an abuse of power of the G8 to not to. |
