WOW.

only an hour or so of the 8 hour broadcast of the live 8 concerts all over the world have been shown here and it's already been absolutely amazing.

richard ashcroft and coldplay playing bittersweet symphony!?! AHH that was so freaking awesome.

it's a great cause. i already have the banner for makepovertyhistory.com which is tied in with the live 8 cause, and my mom said i can order a bracelet for it.

if you don't know why the live 8 concerts are going on, it's to ensure that the leaders of the better-off countries who in a few days are going to discuss how much money will be given to the cause will make their money count and give as much as they can to help.

What sucks about Live 8 is that it is only to raise awareness...not MONEY. The previous Live Aid raised millions of dollars for the cause, but Live 8 only raises awareness? Like starving children in Africa can get food on awareness. And the celebrities get gift baskets? Come on, what is the use of awareness only?

it isnt a fund raiser that gets the public to donate. live8 is using this concert to get people together and teach them about poverty and enfluencing people to support the countries in poverty. so the governments from wealthier countries (us, japan, UK, etc.) will cancel the debt that countries such as africa has and give more money towards farming, landscaping, etc.


so basically this is about making our governments give more money to those countries in need. rather than using the money to create more weapons for warfare.

I am pretty sure that Jacques Chirac isn't thinking "ooh! we need to end poverty now!". I think that he is happy that Pink Floyd is reuniting. Do the people who bought the tickets to the show want to know how to end poverty? More likely they just want to see all their favorite bands perform. If lesser known bands came together and played to educate people about poverty, no one would care.

You'd be suprized how much some people care! And the people who don't are probally superficial, like people who DO EVERYTHING CELEBRITIES DO! So if the celebrities care about poverty, all those people will because the celebrities do. The same concept was applied to Vote or Die.
