Avril Lavigne Engaged to Sum 41 Frontman

Us Weekly says the 20-year-old is engaged to marry Deryck Whibley, the frontman for the punk-pop group Sum 41. Lavigne, 20, began dating the 25-year-old musician in early 2004. They had been friends for several years before that, the magazine said. Whibley and Lavigne both hail from the same province in Canada - Ontario - and reportedly bought a home together in Los Angeles last year. Us Weekly reported that Whibley proposed over the weekend while Lavigne was finishing up the European leg of her tour.
