best friend vs. boy friend Options

my best friend is a guy and sometimes it seems like he acts like a boy friend around me ive asked a bunch of my other friends and they said that he is doing what a really close good brother type best friend does.. so now im confused... what is the difference between a best friend and a boy friend?

for example... a lot of guys really just want ass from me and i would tell him the things they say to me [since i tell him EVERYTHING] and he would get really upset and say things like "i really want to them to say that to you in front of me so i could punch them"

It's been my experiance and knoledge that "best friends" will usually not become boyfriends, but this is usually because of:

1.The guy becomes slightly clingy

2.the guy becomes to be too honest, desposing his life and feelings

3. The guy usually finds himself in a position that a girl makes hima pseudo girlfriend, and he will be trusted so far as to where he doesn't seem desirable due to his transition from friend to "girl friend".

After a certain point, they are friends, and strictly friends.

But hey, it's only experiance an knoledge, what does that mean nowadays?
