I've been depressed... over my dog I lost. He disappeared last Saturday. My whole family left the house around 12 and came back at 11 and he was gone. We left him in the backyard as usual and there was no way he would have gotten out. Actually, there is one way -- we live right next to a canyon. He's too short to jump out the fence without help and there are a lot of plants blocking the way, but it is possible.
And also, we have racoons and coyotes in the canyon. Do you know if those animals eat dogs? A hawk landed in our backyard a few days ago. My sister said it was 'cause it ate my dog and it was looking for more but I doubt he could've carried my dog away

Have you ever lost a dog (or cat, or bird, or whatever pet you have..)? If it came back, how long did it take?
Oh, and do you think racoons or coyotes might have eaten him? Hmm.

I had a cat run away once. He was gone almost three weeks before he came home. I suppose he wanted to travel a bit..
I've heard that dogs that are not neutered tend to have the urge to runoff in search of a mate. Maybe your dog is off looking for a girlfriend?
As far as the coyotes, I wouldn't worry about them. We constantly have coyotes on our property and our dogs have not been eaten yet.
