Hidden Words, help please Options

How do you hide the words that say general, movies,books,etc.?


I know a lot of people ask this question but I have used the following code that I find and it doesnt work...

and this one...

Can anyone tell me another way to do this or why these are not working??

well you could just leave them blank and then it wont show up.
