My brother is in college up @ West Point, and when I talk to him on AIM he's like all pysched about coming home and being with me and hanging out, etc.. and it gets me all worked up like for once we'll e hanging out together!
So he comes home right, and I'm ready to go see movies, go to amusement parks etc... and all excited, and then he totally ditches me!!! he doesn't do anything with me! he just hangsout with my other bro or his friends, and it really hurts me. ![]() Does anyone else have this problem with a friend, or family member? or does anyone have suggestions on how to deal with him? Thanx ![]() |

Actually, I am very close to my brother and have been experiencing the same treatment since my brother started college six years ago. We've always done things together because while growing up, we were each other's bane of existence as well as each other's comfort and support. I've been resenting his friends for a while now because they constantly draw him away from my family. Lately though, he has been spending more time with his girlfriend... which is natural, I suppose, but hurtful, nonetheless. I go out with my friends, but it's not the same... I feel dejected, but I tell myself that things between us will never change. Circumstances happen, but blood is constant.
You know, this is all part of growing up though. One day you'll find someone who'll distract you away from your brother's lack of attention, and then maybe he'll feel as upset as you are now. The way to deal with this is to talk things out and don't give up. Let him know that you want to spend time with him instead of keeping your feelings inside, which may fester into grudges, I would know. Don't give up when he says he wants to go out with friends. Ask for another time and date and make him promise. Remind him about it. In other words, don't give up after a couple of tries and then think that your brother has deserted you when that is not the case. Anyway, feel better. |
