today was effed up. my friend found a knife on the ground and picked it up and went up behind some kid and tried to scare him by grabbing him and putting the knife up to by his neck. the kid jumped a bit so the knife slit his neck a bit. at first it didnt seem bad but then it started bleeding like crazy (cut an artery), and a teacher saw it and sent my friend off to the principal and police while the other kid went off to the hospital. the kids mom is now making them go to court and my friend might end up in juvenile hall. that pretty much screws up his life. the kid he cut was a friend in his pe class and they were just fooling around, so no one's too angry except the moms. im confused and pissed (at my friend and the kids mom).

I'm not going to say anything about consequences, because that has been totally covered, what I will say is, why are you 'losing' a friend? If your friend goes to juvenile detention, he will need your friendship more than ever, and if you truly care about him, you will support him. If anything, your friendship will deepen and you can help him see how he can avoid doing things like this in the future and be a stabilizing influence on him. He will need that as detention facilities are basically think-tanks or file-sharing opportunities for further crime. Don't let your friend develop negative friendships in juvie, if he goes, be the light at the end of his tunnel.
