QUOTE plot outline? I'm going to have to go on James with this - out of those that enjoyed the movie (heck, and the ones that didn't), what's it about? |

QUOTE(Kathleen @ Jun 6 2005, 12:50 PM) I'm going to have to go on James with this - out of those that enjoyed the movie (heck, and the ones that didn't), what's it about? It's the story of Jim Braddock, a famous boxer from the 1920's and 1930's. Basically he's on the way to the top, then he faulters, ends up leaving boxing. But The Depression hits, and boxing is the only way he can make money, so he gets back in the ring. You'll have to see it, of course, to really appreciate the whole story. ;) As far as the movie goes, I saw it tonight, and all I can say is, wow. What a great film. Russell Crowe, as always, does a superb job--I can smell another Best Actor award for him. The cinematography? Wonderful. It really gets you into the middle of the fight. The fight choreography? Amazing, too. Unlike Rocky, it's realistic. Sure, there are some parts that are definitely done up for film, but there's not a lot of hits where you go, "WTF? That guy would be down." You can believe he would stay up and take those blows. And even if you don't like boxing, it still has a great story behind it, and the acting and script is suberb. I highly recommend going to see it. It's one movie I left, not feeling as though I had wasted money on the ticket. Definitely don't regret going to see it at all. |
