did i do the right thing...?, broke up my friendship with my friend Options

My friends name is Raquel. I haven't really liked her for the longest time since she would treat me like crap. But she calls me her best friend.
Everytime on the phone, if I tell a story or a joke, she acts like she didn't hear it - but I know she did. Now...If she tells me a story or a joke, I make sure to laugh or talk about it. I don't like to leave my friends hanging, even if they don't help me with my situations.

Raquel came over on Thursday. First of all, she always wanted to go on my computer! ALWAYS! Even when I was cooking food for us, she said "I'm going on the computer." I looked at her weirdly, but she couldn't take a hint that I didn't want her to go online. When I'm at her house, I never leave her, because I'm the GUEST.

Nextly - I told Raquel my mom started smoking again. But I wanted Raquel to support me. She did support me until she arrived on Thurday. She would make comments like "Ew. It smells like smoke out here. Nasty." I couldn't say anything, because although I HATE smoke too, she made me feel like my mom was a bad person. And my mom isn't.
Raquel said at the sleep over "Gross. My stuffed animal smells like smoke!". Raquel sent me a survey and on the one of the questions, it said "Favorite Smells" and guess what she wrote..."Stuffed Animals, unless they are ruined by the smell of smoke". It was like she couldn't stop talking about it.

She also helped herself to my food. Even if I didn't say she could. It happened to be the week that my mom had little money to pay for food, because she didn't get her child support check. Now, Raquel ate ALL my little brothers snacks for summer school. Raquel didn't ask to eat the food, she just did. When I'm at her house, I always wait for her mom to say that she is making something to eat. I never ask.

It bugged me that she made fun of my sister. My sister recently graduated and we had her graduation pictures on the table. Raquel said "Wow, she looks REALLY weird." I'm really close to my sister and that hurt my feelings.

Last thing. She always would brag about her great drawling, modeling, and singing talents. I'm happy for her, but she drags it on, like she is trying to put me down. I have heard her sing...and I honestly think I sing better. Although I complement her. She has heard me sing a few times, and she NEVER says anything nice, even though she thinks she is perfect. I'm also happy she is a model but she is always saying "I'm sexy" "I'm so skinny" and all that crap. It makes me feel insecure. I have seen her drawlings and said they were nice, but when she sees my drawlings she says nothing. It hurts because she insists her drawlings are better.

I wrote her an email about all of this, and I ended the relationship. Based on the info above, do you think I was right to do that?

You totally did the right thing. And I applaud you for saying something.. most people in your situation would let it go. She seems a little to stuck on herself. If you two are still friends however and she keeps it up, trying doing the same to her. Give her a taste of her own medicine. Next time you hear her sing try saying something like "ehh.. I've heard better". Just so she gets the feel of how you feel.

In my opinion, she's not even worth trying to keep a friendship for.. seems like the only person she truly likes is herself. Don't be fooled.. that's not a friend. Nobody deserves to be around that all the time.
