photoshop cs - how to make curves like this?, photoshop cs curved lines Options

I was wondering if anyone might have a tutorial or be able to direct me to a tutorial on how to do something like this? For most people this is probably simple, I can do some things in PS, but I can't draw a straight, much less a curved, line to save my life.

I'd appreciate any direction. Thanks in advance!

I found the last two articles by doing a Google search. I understood the concept, but when I tried it, it just didn't come out smooth or with a nice curve.

I figured out a cheat of sorts I think -

I used the shape tool and placed a large circle that filled the whole width but maybe only 80px of the bottom of the canvas. Then, using the pen tool, I added points to the circle and then manipulated the points until I was able to achieve something that is sort of close to the image I posted.

A dorky way to do it... but it worked for me.
