A xanga blogger was murdered and the killer was caught because of the xanga entry the blogger wrote shortly before he was killed.

A few similar instances have happened with livejournal as well.
Sometimes it's a good thing, as in this case, other's its a bad case where the problem person is writing the entry and gets them into trouble. I know livejournal has an unofficial thing where you add your first entry as contact and emergency information; you make it private (noone but you can see it) and you list the url in your profile stating it's your emergency contact, so in case you post something awful, a livejournal friend can report it, and something can be done. There had been a case where a girl was making a phone post to her livejournal, and she had been attacked while making the post; So people who heard this mp3 on her journal, let livejournal know (amd she had this post) and they got ahold of someone to help the girl. |
