if he's goin to mock you about having hair, he obviously isn't mature enough to have sex. neither are you if you're worried. everyone has hair down there. so what if it isn't normal? what is normal? having no hair? its normal to have hair if your at least 14 and up. i recommend you wax it or use nair or something similar. by my experiences it just makes the hair grow coarser and in more areas but that doesn't mean everyone is like that. it really depends on your body and how hair is in your family.
