Fellow cBers,
James (MarchHare2UrAlice), Ruth (Suddenly She), Basick, and I are going to start a sort of cB newspaper. At the moment, we have only simple plans, such as interviewing members and writing cB related articles, but we hope to expand the project with your help. This is a way for you to become more involved with cB in a positive way, other members will surely appreciate your contribution, and you'll be getting extra writing practice. ![]() The "paper" will be posted in the Writing forum. As you all know, the Writing forum is often overlooked and this is one of the ways we hope to bring more attention to it. I know we have many talented writers in cB and I hope you all will consider joining our team! This is only for fun and you will not be an official moderator or anything of the like. Please do not confuse this is a cB hiring thread. If you're interested, please fill out this application and post it in this thread. Runner Applicant’s “Audition” Are you really runner material? Find at least two intriguing/inspiring photos (NOT from funnysomething.com) and at least two humorous quotes/jokes. They need not match. Write a caption if necessary. Give credit. Example of humorous bit: Mortified doesn’t describe how Jane’s parents felt after meeting her boyfriend. He sported vile tattoos, swore, and just had a hostile air about him. After he left, the mother said, “Dear, he doesn’t seem like a very nice person.” “Mom,” Jane said, “if he wasn’t very nice, why would he be doing 500 hours of community service?” American Legion Magazine You can make anything your write on the application cB related for now. |

Createblog Newspaper Staff Application
All required fields are bolded. If it’s not… we’re probably just curious. Name: Justin Age: 18 Mark Position Interested In: If more than one, please rank from 1 (most interested) to 3 (least interested). 2Editor: Looks over submitted articles for accuracy, spelling, grammar, and appropriateness. 1Reporter: Finds topics and writes articles. Will occasionally find graphics in order to add visuals to a story. Must give credit for graphics. 3Runner: Finds photos and humorous writings. Will write captions when necessary. Must give credit. Indicate experience – if any, please specify. Remember, your application does not depend upon experience. Letter of Intent Well, I'm jumping the gun here, but if appointed an editor, that would be the appropriate position for me, seeing how I was chief editor of the 2003/2004, and 2004/2005 yearbooks, co-editor of the 2003/2004 school periodical, and chief editor of the 2004/2005 edition, as well as the editorial cartoonist. That should be a testament to my anal nature concerning journalistic perfection. Editor-wise, I bring experience, and quite frankly, anal retentiveness. Reporter-wise, I'd say I'm well fit for the job. Without tooting my horn too excessively, I'm a good writer. That's just about all there is to it. In a nutshell, as a reporter I would simply bring raw writing skill. Editor Applicant’s “Audition” Are you really editor material? Accept or reject these topics: [A]Find the flaws and correct them. [A]Be supportive of the writer/author [A]Contribute ideas instead of just throwing out criticism [A]Help the author develop content that will appeal to the audience [A]Oversee the layout of each "paper" [A]Prepare, rewrite and edit copy to improve readability, or supervise others who do this work To reject any of these responsibilities would be to forfeit my former high school position. Therefore, why would the same not apply to cB's periodical? Reporter Applicant’s “Audition” (I'd really much prefer just to write, though I can contribute editorial experience). Parole System Outlives Its Utility In 1966, three teenagers were taken from their car, beaten brutally, and murdered. The perpetrator's name was Kenneth Allen McDuff, now dubbed Texas' most notorious criminal. For weeks, McDuff evaded police, until finally in late '66, he was brought to justice. Sentenced to life in prison without the chance for parole, McDuff was doomed to a life consisting of aphorisms; 'rotting in jail', 'doing time', and 'jail baiting' it. However, due to a sentencing law change, McDuff became eligible for parole, and, in 1991, was released. The very same month, McDuff went on a killing spree that claimed the lives of six innocent women in two weeks' time. Executed in the late 90's, McDuff serves as a lasting example of the ill effects of the United States' generous 'second chance'. Happy choosing. Working on a staff with Fae is reason enough to apply. |
