number of entries of the "next" button, two entries are hidden~~! Options

i set three entries are showed on each page,
but when i click on the "next" button,it shows the latest 6-8 entries
but not the "next 3" which are supposed to be the latest 4-6 entries~~!
2 entries are hidden whenever i click on the "next" button

how can i fix it~~?
to change the "next" button to show the next 3 but not next 5 entries?

yes~~~!!i'm in PUBLIC view~~!and 2 entries are hidden in the Public view~~!

when i put the [ 3 entries ] script:
top entries on the 2nd page
the 3rd page:
on the 3rd page

and they're the same to the original 5 entries ver~~
every two public entries are hidden each page when i'v put that script~~

after clicling the "next" button,
the page jumps to the 6th entry instead of the 4th entry~~
