I've been training in track for about 2~3 months now and I'm not sure if it's the position I run or somethign but the muscles on the side of my stomache are really sore and tender...do any of you guys know why?

Don't worry about it, that's normal. When you run, you use your abs too, your lower and obliques. So if you are running track for 2-3 months then you should be feeling kinda sore. Before you run in meets and stuff stretch your stomach muscles as well as your leg muscles. Tis important. and drink lots o water :)
