Sorry if there's already a topic on this.

Well, our school news paper is writing an article on the Miss America pagent. (Why? I don't know. ermm.gif ) It got into the whole world peace thing and how no matter what, all the women say they want world peace. This is what I had to say about that...

I highly doubt that's what those woman want. They're too worried about their hair to actually care about the rest of the world. I mean, I'm sure some do. But the majority.. I doubt it. _dry.gif Plus, anyone who says world peace is good for the world doesn't look into it enough.

I think there are way too many wars going on in the world about the stupidest thing. But some wars are important for the world. Without it, there'd be absolutly no evolution. I'm talking about society's evolution. Look at it this way:

Think of the Romans. Do you honestly thing they would have gotten as technologicly advanced and helped society so much if they hadn't concored all the land? Without some wars, no one would have gotten any where. Period. Rome wouldn't have turned into the Roman empire and wouldn't have gotten so far and so many other things that have helped today's society. You must look much farther into war than death and misery. Without it, we wouldn't be Americans. It's a way of human progress. And that's a fact.

So, let me know what you think while I go take my shower. tongue.gif

"Men grow tired of sleep, love, singing and dancing sooner than of war."
- Homer

And plus, Man tends to see passion for everything that is life but twists it into something negative: greed, anger, evil...etc. To make peace, Man must take reign of passion, know when to quell it. In other words, an impossibility.

I didn't understand much of that but I understand the last part. tongue.gif That's good enought for me. rolleyes.gif

well we as humans want world peace, it could happen. We have so much freedom. but if we limited that freedom and were strict we could have world peace. If we killed all the people that have aids we can have world peace. If we diminished all things that can harm us like drugs, guns, anything that can harm us has to be completely gone.

like i know we all want a safe world but in order for us to have a safe world we would need to be strict. you not gunna have that much freedom. for example if we had a comunistic government nobody would be poor, but then nobody would be rich. you see. you have to give up some things inorder to make things perfect.

World peace is a good goal but there has to be a balance in order for us to have freedom in our lives.

Oh yeah. I have something else to say to that post. Even if your logic did actually make sense (which it definatly doesn't) then it still wouldn't be good because without the freedoms we have now, there might be peace but people would be unhappy. Happiness should be the goal. That would be the closest thing to world peace we could ever reach, I think. In order to be happy, we need our freedom. Period.
