i like this guy in my school. since me and him are in the same acadamy in school we see each other often in the halls. well i saw part of his class coming up the stairs from the floor my next period class was, so i ran down the stairs. He was standing in front of a classroom and i just completely froze there staring at him. As he was walking towards the stairs he stopped and stared at me for about 3 sec. and smiled and waved hi and i did the same. i told a couple of friends in my class about it and they said maybe he liked me back. im not sure...but how do i make sure?

Well, there's always of that big risk of asking him. He may lie though if he likes you. that way, you can sometimes tell from his response of "no" if he's lying or not. Like if he hesitates before syaing, or he gets nervous or something.
