Welcome to American Public Schools: Where science is a crime

article

"We enforce 'zero tolerance' on a daily basis here whether it's for students who are bringing firearms to school or selling cocaine or chrystal meth on school property," says principal Hamlin. "Now we're going to take evolution-related slurs just as seriously. Be forewarned, if you're going to say that someone is related to a monkey here at Liberty you're going to pay a steep price."

What is going on?.... i think this is just crazy.

Thats humorous.

Although, I am a bit surprised that the focal point of the drawing is that the girl evolved from an ape rather than a crude drawing of her privates (boobies!!!). If anything, the punishment should for the derogatory and quite harsh artisitc depiction of a girl instead of 'evolution.'

As for evolution and schools. I just got done having a quick pep talk with my Business teacher about this article. I was caught a bit off guard when she said that his punishment was fair. Her justification was, "We can't talk about God, so they shouldn't be able to talk about evolution." Hmm, that rubbed me the wrong way.

Evolution is a scientific theory of coming into our very existence, religion is not. Furthermore, speaking of "God" in public schools implies Christianity, and not everyone is a Christian. My point being that you'd be arbitrarily putting Christianity as a supreme religion above all others.

This was blown out of proportion. The kid should've just been given detention for insulting the girl. And I thought Texas was bad. _unsure.gif

I'm sorry to say, your teacher is loco. One doesn't get suspended for merely saying that God is our Heavenly Father in public schools, however in this child's case, he got suspended for suggesting that his classmate evolved from the apes. Rather unfair actually.
