Bands such as The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, Interpol, Hot Hot Heat, The Hives, The Libertines, The Strokes, etc. have all been referred to as "New Wave" rock bands for their 80's pop/rock influence and their catchy tunes.
Which of these bands are you into or have you heard from? My favorite band are The Killers, but I've also listened to music from Franz Ferdinand, Interpol, and Hot Hot Heat and I'm very pleased. I think I may just get addicted to this kind of music. It's very catchy and fun and even good to dance to. ![]() |

Hmm...I like Hot Hot Heat's old CD, Make Up The Breakdown. It's a fun, catchy 80's pop throwback.
The Killers are ok, but like some people, I think they're getting a bit played. Franz Ferdinand grates on my nerves. Interpol is f*n great. I've been an Interpol fan since their first CD. Their new stuff really isn't my bag, but eh, it can't all be great. Snow Patrol is a band I just can't stand. They're Interpol knock-offs. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are also pretty good. I love "Maps". Radiohead is nearly GOD. Thom Yorke is a genius. I love everything they've ever done, with the exception of Pablo Honey. I don't know if Radiohead really counts since they've been around for awhile. The Faint are one of my top five bands. I f*n love the Faint. I have their last two CDs and I downloaded "Blank-Wave" just to have it. I love that one as well. "Wet From Birth" Rarely leaves my stereo and "Danse Macabre" was in my stereo so long that I have everything off of it memorized. Does the Postal Service count on this topic? Are they considered to be new wave?? I'm really into them and the synths are perfect, in my opinion. If the Postal Service counts, then I'm gonna count Namelessnumberheadman and Headphones as new wave. There's also The Anix, Fischerpooner, Electric Six, Ladytron, VHS or Beta and tons of other bands that fall into this "new-wave" thing. *sigh* First new wave, then goth and industrial will come back. ![]() |
