xanga tables layout help! Options

this is the 1st time that i'm making a tables layout for xanga...i know that when you're doing a regular layout you would save the css as a file but what about on xanga...can someone tell me how i can format the fonts and backgrounds for the tables at the left?

i tried putting the css between the style tags at first but it read everything except the coding for the fonts and when i put it between the body tags, it did the same thing
