what comes to mind, when you think of a southern belle Options

OK I have a paper to write for my class Southern Woman:Myth and Reality. I'm going to be writing on the sterotypes and beliefs, etc of southern belles. I have to get opinions from other people that I will use in my paper. I thought CB would be a great place to start. So what comes to mind when you think of a southern belle. Also do you see southern belles are just be based on one race, white woman or do you consider other races as southern belles if they are from the south. Thank you in advance.

my thinking is because of this book that took place during the civil war that we had to write a giant paper on. so.

a white woman with a brightly colored hoop dress, sewing or knitting or something-ing flags for the army in a sewing circle of other rich women while gossiping and drinking tea.

blame the last silk dress. by ann rinaldi. but that's what she wrote, pretty much, and so then that's what i remember.

some rich girl decides to make a hot air balloon out of the brightly colored silk dresses from the women of the south, that's pretty much it. but they did make hot air balloons, i think on both sides, to spy.
