LOVE TO HATE EACHOTHER I’m standing at the end Of the gasoline-soaked bridge to you Lit match in hand Contemplating what to do If I blow it out It means I’ll be running back If I drop it It means I’ll have to swim Your hand in my left A machete in my right I want to cut you off I want to hold you tight I wear a smile as I swing The blade at your wrist I’m in a panic In a frantic search for my sewing kit At a candle-lit dinner I smile, you wink You make me feel at home And you poison my drink You lift your glass Propose a toast I take a sip Then you stick your finger down my throat It’s evident Nothing between us is ever over Ever We love to hate each other. |
