Being a huge fan of all things automotive, I was pretty let down by the Fast and the Furious series. Yea, the cars were dope but it hardly covered the subculture of street racing.
Gone In 60 Seconds had some incredible cars (Shelby GT500) but there just wasn't enough driving in the movie. Starsky and Hutch had nothing to do with cars. It just happened to have a car in it and a Ford Gran Turino ain't all that great. Bullit isn't so much a car movie as it is a cop movie and the car chase scene in Bullit is absolutely amazing. I guarantee you that most car chase scenes since the late 1960s used Bullit as a template. I loved the Italian Job but its not a car movie and Mini Coopers are somewhat girly in my opinion. As for the bikes, Torque was trash and Biker Boyz was a mellowdrama about the individuals who happened to be submerged in the subculture of motorcycle clubs. |
